As much as she learned in her finance career she realized she didn’t want to “work” her entire life. She wanted to follow her dreams and live her passions. She picked up a short story she’d written in college. All her friends and classmates wanted to know what became of the characters that captured their hearts and the ones they loved to loathe. She decided to turn the story into a novel, when her mother was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2008. . On February 22, 2010, they watched as cancer took their mother from them. Then in March 2010 she was admitted into the hospital with slurred speech and unable to move the left side of her body. 3 days after her admission she got her diagnosis, Multiple Sclerosis, a hole in her heart, and probable Lupus. One night while in the hospital, suffering from insomnia caused by the high dose of steroids given to her for MS she said a prayer.  She prayed to get the use of her left side again. She prayed that the words would start to make sense and she could write again. MS had interrupted her thought pattern as well as limited her physical ability. In June 2010, she completed Sins of Thy Mother. In July 2010 she buried her father,a two time Vietnam Veteran who passed from cardiac arrest.

Sins of Thy Mother incorporates all that she has dealt with in her life; everything we all deal with. Love, loss, promises, doubt, and faith.  When asked how did she finish this book while dealing with so much adversity and loss in her life? she answers simply with the Mary, Mary song…”It’s the God is me”. She explains, “God kept his promise to me to never forsake me and HE hasn’t. In my darkest hours when things seem to look so dismal HE gives me a light to walk towards. When walking was a problem HE sent my husband to help me. HE sent my sisters to support me. HE sent my children to inspire me. Sometimes I only had a mustard seed of faith and HE moved mountains.” And on September 8th the day she was born HE gave her something to look forward to. She was on her way to “The Oprah Winfrey Show” where she would find out she was going to AUSTRALIA!! On October 28th, 2011 she will be featured on Oprah’s Lifeclass discussing the topic Joy Rising.

"Do or Don't Do...Try not." -Yodaism

If you have seen Star Wars you have to know it is full of life's lessons. The lesson that most stuck with me was the scene when Yoda is training Luke. Luke says he will try to accomplish the goal Yoda has given him. TRY. Such a small word, but it...
